India bowled out Windies for 182-run

DHAKA: Defending champion India bowled out West Indies for a scanty 182-run in 44.2-over in the teams’ ICC World Cup Pool B match in Perth on Friday.

After winning the toss, West Indies captain Jason Holder decided to bat first in the match that kicked off at 12:30pm Bangladesh time.

They came up against a pack of India fast bowlers who utilised the pace and bounce on a healthy WACA pitch.

But, without trying to attempt to adjust, West Indies batsmen simply kept trying to hit themselves out of trouble and fell into a deeper hole. Only Jason Holder managed to display some sense.

He made 57-run while DJG Sammy, J Carter and C Gayle scored 26, 21 and 21 runs respectively.

Mohammed Shami was the main destroyer; he took three wickets while UT Yadav and RA Jadeja grabbed two wickets each. R Ashwin and MM Sharma took one wicket each.

India, in previous in three matches of the tournament, has ticked almost every box required for them to defend their World Champions title. All three wins have been easy. They are in a relax mood now to give games to the reserve players before the knockouts begin.

West Indies’ performance has swung from brilliant to abysmal in their four matches, losing to Ireland and South Africa and beating Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

This game is also crucial for them in terms of their standing in the points table. Although ranked third currently, below India and South Africa, West Indies have Pakistan and Ireland trying to pip them to the post.
