DHAKA: South Africa Thursday confirmed quarter-finals of World Cup 2015 beating United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 146-run, thanks to thumping performances of de Villiers and Behardien in the Pool B match at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.

While chasing a stiff target of 342-run, UAE managed to score 195-run in 47.3 overs. UAE never actually showed their intent to win the match, however.

S Patil scored an unbeaten 57-run while UAE’s most prolific batsman in the tournament Shaiman Anwar took 39-run.

Philander, Morkel and de Villiers took two wickets each while Steyn, Duminy and Imran Tahir grabbed one wicket each.

Earlier in the day, UAE skipper Mohammad Tauqir won the toss and elected to field first.

AB de Villiers’ 99 and Behardien’s 64 runs off 33-ball helped Proteas to score 341-run for six wickets in their stipulated 50-over.

Besides, Miller, Rossouw, de Kock, Duminy scored 49, 43, 26 and 23 runs respectively.

UAE bowler Naveed bagged three wickets while Shazad, Javeb and Tauqir got one wicket each.

South Africa will face Sri Lanka in the quarter final at Sydney on March 18.
