Rohit Sharma, the centurion at the Melbourne Cricket Ground should thank his stars for being able to reach the milestone in crucial quarter final fixture playing against Bangladesh.

Sharma who reached his hundred in the 42nd over bowled everyone with his fantabulous efforts. But his innings or rather his hundred was marred with a controversial decision on part of the umpires. Sharma enjoyed a lifeline after on-field umpires Aleem Dar and Ian Gould let him off the hook in Rubel Hossain’s over. He finally departed after knocking a fabulous 137 off 126 deliveries and taking India to a mammoth total of 302.

Sharma batting in his nineties hit a full toss delivery off Rubel Hossain, in search of maximum runs but was caught at deep square leg. But before the Bangladeshi team could break into the celebrations after getting the prized wicket of set batsman, Ian Gould signalled the delivery as a ‘No-Ball’ with height being in question.

The fielding side looked confused while Indian player breathed a sigh of relief. It was Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar who signalled Gould and without any further discussion Sharma was ruled to continue playing.

There was huge uproar among the Twitteratti with social media going abuzz with the terrible decision. Afterall India was struggling and a wicket at the moment would have put tremendous pressure but they survived.
