Proteas U-19s secure a 2-run win

DHAKA: Visiting South Africa Under-19 beat Bangladesh Under-19 in the third Youth ODI in a narrow margin of 2-run at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

Bangladesh youth scored 227-run losing seven wickets in 50-over while chasing 229-run scored by South Africa youth.

Bangladesh opener Saif Hasan scored 70-run while Mossabbek Hossain, M Saifuddin and Zakir Hasan scored 35, 36 and 30 runs respectively.

South Africa’s Ziyaad Abraham grabbed three wickets while Aaqil Ebrahim, Dean Foxcroft and Abdu Galiem took one wicket each.

Earlier, South Africa Under-19 captain Tony De Zorzi won the toss and decided to bat first.

They scored 229-run losing wickets in their stipulated 50-over. Abdu Galiem scored 51-run while Dean Foxcroft and Rivaldo Moonsamy took 36-run each.

Kyle Verreynne scored 40 runs and Aaqil Ebrahim took 31-run off 24-ball.

Saleh Ahmed Shawon grabbed three wickets while Mohammad Saifuddin, Nehaduzzaman, Sanjit Saha and Nazmul Hossain took one wicket each.

The fourth Youth ODI will be held on April 15 at the same venue.
