Pakistan lead by 205 after day-3

DHAKA: A double-ton by Pakistan opener M Hafeez and a string of fifty-plus stands helped visitors to take a lead of 205-run at the end of day-3 in their 1st innings of the 1st test against Bangladesh at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna Thursday.

Pakistan scored 537 runs for the loss of five wickets after 148-over at the end of day-3.

Mohammad Hafeez hit maiden double-century in his test career before Shuvagata Hom made Hafeez victim of a sharp catch from Mahmudullah at leg-slip.

Hafeez scored 224 runs off 332 balls, hitting 23 boundaries and three over boundaries at a strike rate of 67.46. Azhar Ali, Misbah-ul-Haq,     Younis Khan and Sami Aslam scored 83, 59, 33 and 20 runs respectively.

Of the Bangladeshi bowlers, Taijul Islam took three wickets while Shuvagata Hom took two.

Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed are on the crease now with 51 runs each.

Earlier, Mohammad Hafeez had resumed the innings on the third day with Azhar Ali.

Pakistan are replying the Bangladesh first innings total of 332-run. At the end of second day, Pakistan scored 227-run losing the wicket of debutant opener Sami Aslam.

Earlier, Bangladesh scored 332 runs losing all wickets in their first innings. Tigers lost their last six wickets adding only 96 runs with their overnight score of 236-run at the loss of four.

Among the Pakistan bowlers, Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah were most successful by bagging three wickets each, while Hafeez and Babar got two wickets each.

Earlier on Tuesday (April 28), Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and opted to bat first in the match that kicked off at 10:00am local time.

Mominul Haque, Imrul Kayes and Mahmudullah’s responsible batting helped Bangladesh score 236 for four at stumps on the opening day of Khulna test.

Mominul Haque was the top scorer with 80-run while Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan took 51, 49, 33, 32, 25 and 25 runs respectively.
