Bangladesh bowled and fielded appreciably well while defending a modest score in the 3rd T20 match against Pakistan yesterday at SBNCS. The match went down to the wire as Pakistan winning on the last ball made it 3-0.

In the low scoring action backed encounter Pakistan managed winning by 5 wickets on the last ball of the match unleashed series white wash. With as many as 8 wickets at hand Pakistan was almost rocked by Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah coming to ball in the last over with Pakistan needing to score 8. In no time Riad forced Pakistan losing 3 quick wickets. Pakistan required 2 for a series white wash. In a controversial manner Mohammad Wasim was ruled not out in the last ball that Riad bowled as the batsman withdrew after ball was delivered.Riad bowled again .Wasim striking a boundary won the match and earned series clean sweep for Pakistan. Earlier Bangladesh winning the toss and choosing to bat first could manage only 124/7 in allotted overs. Pakistan scored 127/5.

With series already won Pakistan rested Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan. They also did not include Fakhar Zaman. Yet Bangladesh failed batting well against second string Pakistan attack. Mohammad Wasim (2/15) and Usman Qadir (2/35) squeezed Bangladesh as the batsmen never came to terms with the wicket. The pace heavy Pakistan attack proved too strong yet again.  Opener Naim stayed at the wicket almost through scoring 47 in 50 deliveries. Shamim struck a few blows in his 22 and Afif again wasted a good start scoring 20.

All thought the score of 124/7 would not test strong Pakistan batting. But surprising all Bangladesh bowled and fielded exceptionally well. Rizwan and Babar were not in a hurry. Yet they struggled a bit in coming to terms with the sluggish wicket. Debutant Shahidul has Babar played on. It was an unusual lean batting series for otherwise prolific Babar. However, Rizwan batted patiently anchoring the innings producing 40 in 43 balls. Haidar Ali came good scoring 45.

Pakistan however, found scoring run a bit challenging against very accurate spin bowling of Nasum, Mehedi and Aminul. The last over required 8 runs for the win with 8 wickets at hand. Bangladesh had little bowling options left when Riad himself brought in to the attack. Sarfraz and Haidar Ali were caught in the deep and Raid was on a hat trick. Iftikhar striking an over boundary made it very interesting. He was also gone creating nail biting excitement. Mohammad Wasim walked in .2 runs was required on the last ball. Raid bowled but Wasim withdrew after the ball was delivered as the ball struck the wicket. Umpired declared it a dead ball which Raid accepted. Wasim striking the last ball for a boundary sealed the match by 5 wickets. Pakistan unleashed a series white wash.

It was atrocious batting that let Bangladesh down yet again. Bangladesh team management has to assess their performance in minor details. They gained very little making sweeping changes in T20 squads. They have to do lot of home works on batting going back to the drawing board. But the bowling and fielding looked all right. But T20 requires batsmen producing enough runs facilitating the bowling to try and defend. Bangladesh did not bat at all well in 3 matches.

The T20 series is done and dusted. Now all eyes would be focused on 2 matches test series starting this Friday in Chattogram.
