Sony targets emerging markets with new smartphones

DHAKA: Sony Mobile has unveiled two new Android smartphones, the Xperia E1 and T2 Ultra.

The E1 is a low-end phone with a 4-inch WVGA (800x480) display, HSPA+, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 4GB internal memory and the Walkman app with a 30-day trial of the Sony music streaming service.

The phone will be available in white, black or puple for a recommended price of EUR 149., reports telecompaper.com

The Xperia T2 Ultra is a large-screen LTE device aimed at China, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region.

The phone comes with a 6-inch display (720p), 13 megapixel camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, 3,000 mAh battery, NFC and 8GB internal storage plus microSD card slot. It`s priced at EUR 399.

The T2 Ultra features Sony’s latest Album, Walkman and Movies apps, integrated with cloud services over the Sony Entertainment Network and Playmemories Online storage service in most Asian markets.

China users will have access to an exclusive Sony movies channel via Sohu and the Sony Zone, a 320Kbps streaming MP3 service.

Both the new phones will be available in dual-Sim versions.
