Bangladesh launches digital certificate verification and apostille service

Bangladesh has rolled out a fully digital system for verifying educational and professional certificates, a major step aimed at reducing costs and simplifying procedures for citizens pursuing education and employment opportunities abroad.

The development was announced via the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser to the Bangladesh government.

Under the new system, individuals can complete certificate verification and obtain internationally recognised Apostille certificates online through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This reform replaces the previously mandatory in-person visits to embassies and foreign offices—a process long criticised for being expensive, time-consuming, and inefficient.

Government estimates suggest the digital transition could save Bangladeshi citizens up to BDT 700 crore annually.

Officials believe the move will help combat fraudulent documentation by enabling secure digital verification.

Additionally, the system is expected to streamline the authentication process for those seeking education, employment, and migration opportunities abroad.
