DHAKA: State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that 24 percent people of the country are now using internet.

He came up with the assertion while inaugurating a fair “Robi Smartphone and Tab Expo-2014” at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in city on Thursday.

He said that there were only four percent internet users in the country when Awami League assumed power in 2009 and now it has reached to 24 percent.

He also said that every year 30 percent people are joining with smartphone across the globe and our young generation is adapting the new information technologies, which is very positive.

The state minister further said, “We are encouraging people to cope with new technologies. As a result, currently 11-crore out of 16-crore people are using mobile phones.”
