BD joins ITPEC

DHAKA: Bangladesh has become a member of Information Technology Professional Examination Council (ITPEC).

The membership will now create an opportunity to evaluate the professional quality of country’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) professionals.

Bangladesh gets membership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Computer Council auditorium at city’s Agargaon area on Monday.

Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) executive director SM Ashfaq Hossain signed the MoU on behalf of Bangladesh and Japan-based Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) vice-president Hisaya Tanaka on behalf of the organization.

Posts, telecommunications and IT minister Abdul Latif Siddique, ICT division state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, ICT secretary Nazrul Islam Khan and project director Dr Sheikh Amzad Hossain were present at the ceremony.

Japan ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bangladesh chief representative Mikio Hataeda, Japan economy, trade and industry deputy director general Hideyuki Ohashi and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) representative Kei Kawano, among others, were also present at the event.

The Information Technology Professional Examination Council (ITPEC), is an organization that conducts information technology examinations throughout Asian countries. It was formed to promote information exchange among examination bodies in Asia, and to facilitate such efforts as the development of common examination questions and the administration of the exam on the same date and time.

It was established to support international strategies in the spheres of software development and information technology human resources.
