Govt prioritizes ICT sector, says Palak

DHAKA: State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Affairs Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday said the government has been working by giving priority to the Information and Communication Technology. 

He made the observation after inaugurating the first ever “Dell Carnival” of the country at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the morning.

Bangladesh has been achieving international recognitions in the ICT sector by getting international awards including ITU award, an annual special achievement award for outstanding performance and role models in Gender Equality and mainstreaming in the area of ICTs, South-South Award, and Gartner and last but not least AT Kearney has given a special recognition to Bangladesh, he added.

Minister also said, “The government has taken initiatives to provide fiber optic cable connection to all the union parishads within next five years from where people can get all kinds of internet services.”

Palak further said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has undertaken a long term vision to build an ICT-based modern Bangladesh within 2021. We have been working with that vision.”

Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) president Mahfuzul Arif said, “Such a fair of technological gadgets can help to build technology-awareness in the country.”

Organizers said they will showcase latest electronic gadgets made by Dell to the buyers who also can enjoy special discounts, servicing free of cost and have a chance to talk to experts about their equipments.
