JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: The world has been developing day by day with the help of modern technologies, so do Bangladesh.

Three students of Jahangirnagar University brought the country one-step ahead as they are waiting to participate in world largest competition of computer programming.
 
The program will be held in Morocco from June and will be organized by America-based international organization, Association of Computer Machineries.

The three-member team consists of 4th year students of Computer and Engineering Technology Aninda Majumder, Suman Bhadra and 3th year student of Institute of Information Technology M Nafis Sadik.

The team has become runner-up in ‘ACM-ICPC-Amritapuri Site Regional’ recently held in India where 249 teams from India and a team of JU competed.

The Bangladeshi team has been preparing themselves for last three years to win the world championship. But, earlier in the selection round, held at Bangladesh University of Business Technology, the team achieved fourth place which gather smoke on their dream of the competition.

But, their hope did not go on astray. With new inspiration, they participated in the selection round in Amritapuri University of India on December 16 and awarded with runner-up trophy and got the ticket of world championship.

The Bangladeshi students also participated in many national and international competitions besides their academic studies.

Aninda said “Our team and winner team solved seven problems among 10 problems. But, the winner team completed their task earlier.”

While expressing the feelings to become runner-up, Nafis said “We were confident that we would achieve third or fourth position. But, now we are happy of the result.” 

Suman said about the World Final that “We are first to get the opportunity to go in the final round from Bangladesh. We will practice at a stretch after the academic examination will be over.”

“We hoped that we will make a good score in the final and we will keep the respect of our country and university”, he added.

They also suggested that computer programming should be introduced from the early state of childhood which has been practiced in abroad.

The government and universities can play a vital role in this regard as there is no alternative of good programmers to develop the Information Technology (IT) sector of the country.
