3G in remote areas by sharing towers

DHAKA: The government has informed the deputy commissioners (DC) that it would take measures to bring the remote areas under 3G network coverage by sharing towers.

Cabinet division joint secretary Ashraf Shamim disclosed the matter at a press briefing by posts and telecommunications division during the second day of DC conference in city.

He further said necessary measures would be taken to bring upazilas under optic-fiber connection.

Old and dilapidated post offices will also be renovated soon, he added.

The joint secretary also said all airports will be brought under Wi-Fi network and IT Vocational Training Centers will be established in every divisional headquarter.

Science and technology ministry will also work to increase science fairs at district level, he added.
