DHAKA UNIVERSITY: New media and other online social networking sites have been taking the place of traditional media as people are mostly depended on the new trends for publishing their articles and also for reading news feeds.

Professor D Wayne Wanta of Florida University put importance on new media while speaking at Dhaka University (DU) Mass Communication and Journalism Department’s 53rd founding anniversary at RC Majumder auditorium Tuesday noon.

Professor Wanta also gave the example of US president election where the two candidates attracted voters through Facebook.

The speakers also discussed about the evaluation, context, effects and agenda-settings of new media.
