DHAKA: Axiata Group Berhad awarded three suppliers Huawei, Orissa Wicomm and Ericsson in recognition of outstanding performance of its technology suppliers in the Southeast Asia and South Asia region.
President and also Group Chief Executive Officer of Axiata Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim presented the award at Axiata Tower recently, said a press release on Tuesday (July 19).
Jamaludin said, “As a regional telecommunications champion serving approximately 290 million customers across Asia, suppliers form an integral part of our business operations, helping us provide world-class technology and connectivity”.
“The Axiata Supplier Awards was launched to celebrate the successes of our suppliers in enhancing their business processes through process excellence and operational efficiencies to support Axiata.”
“We established a group-wide Axiata Procurement Centre with the aim of encouraging our suppliers to continually improve quality and deliver on performance. It is also equally important they incorporate sustainability processes in their operations through the adoption of best practices which are transparent and ethically fair”, he added.
He further said, “In line with this, we have been focusing on ensuring Operational and Process Excellence in the value chain of suppliers across all our markets within our footprint in Asia”.
The Axiata Supplier Awards was held in conjunction with the Axiata Supplier Forum 2016, with award recipients identified through a performance evaluation process conducted across four key strategic pillars, namely, Commercial and Contract Compliance; Quality and Operational Performance; Ethics and Sustainability; and Strategy and Roadmap.
Axiata has a pool of key technology suppliers across the region, covering network and IT categories.
The Supplier Performance Management (SPM) process and Supplier Awards represent the next phase of growth of Axiata Procurement Centre, which sources high quality products and services, focused on Axiata’s network and IT hardware and software needs.
