DHAKA: Internet blackout drill will be conducted in any part of the country, including capital city Dhaka, from Monday afternoon (August 1) to early Tuesday as part of measures against terrorism and ensuring public safety.

Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) took the decision on “total internet blackout drill” at a meeting.

Sources said the drill will be carried out at anytime from 5:30pm on Monday to 2:00am on Tuesday.

Sources also said the drill will be arranged to check whether the ISPs can coordinate among themselves and shutdown internet of any area in case of any emergency.
