Wasfia Nazreen made GP brand ambassador

DHAKA: Wasfia Nazreen, the first and only Bangladeshi to summit the seven highest mountains in all seven continents, has been made brand ambassador of the country’s largest telecom operator Grameenphone (GP).

She will work with GP to empower the society, says a press release on Monday (October 3).

Wasfia began her epic adventure in 2011 to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence and the progress women have made in this short time showing resiliency in all fronts.

In 2015, she went on to become the first Bangladeshi and only Bengali to complete the Seven Summits, upholding Bangladesh in the global platform through a very rare record.

About her becoming GP brand ambassador, an elated Wasfia said, “I feel proud to be involved with a trusted brand like Grameenphone! Through the services it has been providing since the beginning of its journey, Grameenphone has won the trust of Bangladeshis and played a key role in empowering them”.

“Grameenphone inspires people to go beyond and follow their dreams. I never gave up on my dreams, nor deviated from my goals. My journey to go beyond has only started. I have a vision; similarly Grameenphone, as a brand, has vision of excellence. The company is going ahead to achieve its goal.”

Everest summiteer Wasfia thinks GP is not only a business organization, as it has been working with social responsibility since the very beginning for the holistic development of the society.

According to her, GP has been working relentlessly with its initiatives like online schools, easy internet education for the common people, women empowerment and other development initiatives round the year in order to encourage people - irrespective of age, class and profession - come out of their circles.

As its brand ambassador, Wasfia wants to lead the country and its people to the path of success through being involved with GP’s various social initiatives.

Since her student life, Wasfia has been involved in human rights, development, research, advocacy and environmental conservation.

In 2014, she was honored by National Geographic as an Adventurer of the Year for her activism and commitment to empowering women through her work in the field of adventure.

In 2016 she was chosen again as a National Geographic Emerging Explorer, becoming the first female to hold both adventurer and explorer titles in the Society. Wasfia will keep up her journey towards success along with GP.
