Govt to set up 5275 digital centers countrywide

DHAKA: The government will set up 5,275 digital centers across the country as a bid to prepare the e-government master plan.

It will help reduce the usage of paper in all government and private activities. It will make things easier, curb corruption and harassment apart from reaching service to the peoples’ doorsteps.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was addressing a workshop at city’s Krishibid Institution Bangladesh on Wednesday (November 9).

He also said the government is focusing on four bases to digitize Bangladesh which are E-government master plan, human resource, connectivity improvement and industrial promotion.

State minister further said the project will be implemented and funded by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under ICT department. Its development partner is Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

However, the ICT Ministry arranged the day long workshop on implementation of E-Government master plan.

BCC executive director SM  Ashraful Islam preside over the workshop where KOICA country manager Joe Hyungue, Korean embassy deputy chief of mission (counselor) Kwak Samju, ICT department additional secretary Harunur Rashid , project director Mohammad Enamul Kabir Sarker and high officials from KOICA were present among others.
