DHAKA: Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) honored Information and Communication Technology (ICT) division of Bangladesh government with ‘Digital Government Award-2016’ on Tuesday (November 15).
ASOCIO president Bunrak Saraggananda handed over the award to ICT state minister Junayed Hossain Palak in a program of ASOCIO general assembly and ICT summit- 2016 at the city of Myanmar.
ASICIO is an association of 10,000 representatives from 31 countries of Asia-Oceania region including Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippine, Singapore, Korea, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam.
According to ASIOCIO, 58 ministries/divisions, 222 directorates/bodies of all districts and upazilas across the country is connected through the high speed fiber optic cable connection under Bangla gov.net and Info-government-2 project and public service information providing by government web portal consists of 25,000 of websites, such activities were considered for the award.
State minister Junaiyed Hossain Palak said that this award is the recognition of Primer Sheik Hasina’s proficient leadership and supervision and direction of her ICT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy to introduce Bangladesh as role model world wide by Digital Bangladesh activities.
He also thanked and expressed gratitude to ASICIO on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sajeeb Wazed Joy and the people of Bangladesh.
Before, State minister met with Myanmar communication minister Thunt Sin Maung in a bilateral meeting.
Thunt Sin Maung appreciated the commendable initiatives and activities of digital Bangladesh and expressed willingness to sing a memorandum of understanding to continue the bilateral cooperation in both sides in ICT sector.
Earlier Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy received the prestigious ‘ICT for Development Award’ at Millennium Hotel in New York on September 19.
