PDB, Robi pilot project on prepaid meter service in Comilla

DHAKA: Leading mobile phone operator Robi has recently signed an agreement with Bangladesh Power development Board (BPDB) and AplombTech BD (BPDB’s technical partner) to run a pilot project in Comilla.

BPDB’s Sr. System Analyst Ratan Kumar Paul; Robi’s Vice President (Digital Services) Dewan Nazmul Hasan and AplomTech’s CEO M Sayfullah signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

This pilot project will allow BPDB customers to recharge their smart/ prepaid meters from RobiCash point logo signed agent points. This pilot project is considered to be a key component in implementing the vision of Digital Bangladesh by 2021.

The learning from the pilot project will help BPDB to roll out prepaid meter service for its customers, said a press release.

Robi has already emerged as the leader in providing the Bill Payment Service for the clients of BPDB in all the six billing regions (i.e. Chittagong, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Comilla, Sylhet, and Rangpur). Besides, it is also providing bill payment service for the clients of Dhaka and Chittagong WASA and DESCO.

Under Robi Utility Bills Pay Service consumers are able to pay their utility bills from any authorized “RobiCash Point” signed agent points.

Agents are paying bills using most secured USSD technology on behalf of customers. Both agents and customers are getting confirmation SMS for the successful bill payment. Consumers are also getting monthly bill notification alert for availing this service.
