A2i gets President’s Award in India

DHAKA: Access to Information (A2i) program under Prime Minister’s office (PMO) of Bangladesh has been awarded the ‘President’s Award’ for the National Portal Framework by The Open Group, India.

A2i received the award under The Open Group Award For Innovation and Excellence 2017 at a program held in Bengaluru of India Wednesday (February 8).

Several countries from Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia took part in the competition.

Besides the President’s Award, A2i received ‘Award of Distinction’ for Office Information and Service Framework, and Land Information and Service Framework.

PMO director general (admin) and project director of A2i program Kabir Bin Anwar received the awards on behalf of Bangladesh.

A2i (Access to Information) is a UNDP and USAID-supported program in Bangladesh and is part of “Vision-2021”, a political manifesto of the ruling Awami League government.

The Program aims to provide information to the citizens per “Right to Information Act of 2009” and bring about a change in the Bangladesh Civil Service to a citizen-centric service delivery system.

After receiving the award, Kabir Bin Anwar congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her IT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
