DHAKA: Sophia, an artificially intelligent female robot, is coming to Bangladesh on December 5 to attend an information and technology event ‘Digital World-2017.’

The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak confirmed the matter at a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 28).

Digital World-2017, the biggest event of information and technology will be held from 06 to 09 December in the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC). 

The robot, manufactured by a Hong Kong-based company, Hanson Robotics, will be seen between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm at the hall of Fame of BICC on December 6.   

The Minister said that the world’s first social robot will display its knowledge about the globe, answer funny questions, and its interaction with humans. Sophia can be seen from close. 

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Chief Information Officer Kamrun Nahar and BASIS President Mustafa Jabbar were present at the press conference.
