Gold and jewellery traders will keep their shops closed across the country on Sunday (Oct 22) due to Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) issued a press release on Saturday in this regard.
The association requested the jewellery traders to keep their shops shut on the day of Maha Ashtami which falls on Sunday, said the release.
The five-day Durga Puja celebration began on Friday with the unveiling of the face of the deity and Kalparambho on the day of Maha Sashthi and it will end on October 22 with the immersion of the idols.
Hindus across Bangladesh are celebrating Mahalaya, the auspicious occasion that heralds the advent of Goddess Durga, on Saturday (October 14).
