The Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation (BSFIC) has raised the maximum retail price of sugar produced by state-owned mills to Tk 160 per kg, marking an increase of Tk 20 per kg.
The BSFIC announced this price adjustment by issuing an official notice on Thursday (February 22).
The government-owned corporation in the notice said that the price of sugar produced by the BSFIC has been set in accordance with the international market.
From now on, the selling price of a 50 kg sack of sugar at the Mill Gate of the corporation has been set at Tk 7,500 (Tk 150 per kg), while at the dealer level, it has been fixed at Tk 7,850 (Tk 157 per kg).
The sales rate of a kg of packaged sugar at mill gates or super shops of the corporation has been fixed at Tk 155, while the maximum retail selling price in super shops, basements, and markets of sugar industry buildings has been set at Tk 160 per kg.
