Jewellers have increased the gold price by Tk2,916 to Tk1, 14,073 per bhori in local market within two days of dropping the tariff of the precious metal.

The standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Thursday (March 21).

The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk9,780 per gram while it is Tk9,335 for 21-carat said a press release signed by committee chairman Masudur Rahman.

The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk8,000 a gram while that of traditional gold is at Tk6,670 a gram. The new tariffs will come into effect from Friday, the release said.

The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram while 21-carat is Tk172 per gram and the price is Tk147 per gram for 18-carat silver and Tk110 for traditional one.
