Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk 1,050 to Tk 1,10,213 per bhori in the Bangladeshi market.
The standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) came up with the decision at a meeting on Saturday.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 9,449 per gram while it is Tk 9,019 for 21-carat, said a press release signed by committee Chairman Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 7,731 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk 6,429 a gram. New tariffs will come into effect on Sunday, the release said.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram while 21-carat Tk172 and the price of 18-carat silver is Tk 147 per gram, and Tk110 for traditional ones.
