Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) announced a hike in the price of gold for the second consecutive day on Sunday by Tk735 to Tk1,10,948 per bhori.
The new price would be effective from Monday.
BAJUS on Saturday, had raised the price of top quality (22-carat) gold by Tk1,050 per bhori after eight incidents of price falls.
Sunday's further price hike was announced by BAJUS standing committee on pricing and price monitoring following a meeting of the country's apex jewellery traders' association.
The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk9,512 per gram while it is Tk9,079 for 21-carat, said a press release signed by pricing committee Chairman Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk7,782 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk6,472 a gram. The new prices will come into effect on Monday.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram while 21-carat Tk172 and the price of 18-carat silver is Tk147 per gram, and Tk110 for traditional ones.
