Jewellers have increased the price of gold by Tk 4,502, raising it to Tk 1,15,450 per bhori in the Bangladeshi market.
The decision was made by the standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS) during a meeting held on Tuesday.
A press release signed by committee Chairman Masudur Rahman said that the price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk 9,898 per gram while it is Tk 9,448 for 21-carat gold.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 8,098 per gram while that of traditional gold at Tk 6,695 per gram.
The new rates will take effect starting Wednesday.
In addition, the price of 22-carat silver is Tk 180 per gram, while 21-carat silver is Tk 172 per gram, and 18-carat silver is priced at Tk 147 per gram, with traditional silver priced at Tk 110 per gram.
