Reports invited for BAJUS Media Awards

The Bangladesh Jewelers' Association (BAJUS) is going to confer the 'BAJUS Media Award 2024' for the second time and thus invited reporters to submit their reports to take part in the event.

The journalists of both Bangla and English, online newspapers and television channels have been encouraged to submit their reports published in their respective media on the specified subject matters.

The primary objective of the award is to inspire professional journalists to engage in informative, investigative, and research-based reporting on the jewelry industry.

The trade body will recognise a total of nine reports in three categories -- Bangla and English, online newspaper and television -- with the award, said a press release on Wednesday.

Three journalists from each category will receive gold medals worth Tk 1.5 lakh, Tk 1.25 lakh and Tk 1 lakh respectively.

A jury comprised of eminent journalists will select reports on  different issues, including the current situation of the jeweler industry, the contribution of the jeweler industry to the national economy, new investment, employment opportunities and challenges in the sector, prospects of jeweler sector in the global context, export potential and competitiveness, bank financing in jeweler sector, impact of gold policy in jeweler sector, baggage rules, quality and design of ornaments, revenue management and policy issues, harassment and obstruction, smuggling situations and fit to be done for prevention, related issues including work environment and jeweler industry in technical education

News published between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024, will be eligible for consideration for the 'BAJUS Media Award 2024'.

A journalist can apply in a single category. In the case of a series reports, it will be considered as a single report. For newspapers and online portals, there should be one original copy of the report with the supervisor’s attestation and a composed copy in a Word file.

News reports published in newspapers and online news portals are eligible for submission for this award. Columns or opinions will not be considered for the awards.

Regarding television entries, only news bulletins are acceptable for submission. No events will be considered for the award.

Reports published exclusively on the web portal of any newspaper will not be eligible for consideration for the award in the online category.

For the reports published in newspapers (both Bengali and English) and online news portals, two copies should be submitted, the original copy with the date of publication and a composed copy of the report.

The original copy must be attested by the Editor, News Editor, or Chief reporter (anyone) of the concerned newspaper or online platform.

The composed copy should not include the name of the reporter or the newspaper/online platform and it does not need to be attested.

For televised news reports, the materials including video of the broadcast report on a CD or pen drive, written script of the report, a certificate from the head of news, chief news editor, or chief reporter of the concerned television station, with the date of broadcast of the report should be submitted.

The report should be submitted along with the reporters’ mobile number and email address, as well as a brief resume and one copy of their photograph.

The aspirants should submit their reports directly or by post to the BAJUS office address within 5:00 pm on July 15, 2024.

The category should be clearly indicated on the envelope.
