Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk1,936 to Tk1,27,942 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Sunday (August 25).
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk1,27,942 per gram, and 21-carat Tk1,22,122 per gram, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,04,684 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk86,547 per gram.
New tariffs would come into effect on Monday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram, 21-carat Tk172, 18- carat Tk147, and traditional one is Tk110 per gram.
