Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 kicks off today

The four-day Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 begins today, spotlighting the country’s dynamic investment landscape and recent economic reforms.

Designed to promote Bangladesh’s investment prospects and structural changes in the post-July revolution era, the summit also aims to build sustainable, long-term investment pipelines to support economic resilience.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to officially inaugurate the main segment of the summit on April 9, alongside diplomats, senior business leaders, and policymakers. The first two days will focus on exclusive side events for select investors.

Organisers report that the event has drawn over 2,300 participants from 50 nations, including more than 550 international investors. The summit will host matchmaking meetings, partnership initiatives, and thematic discussions.

Among today's key events is Bangladesh Startup Connect-2025, which will bring together global investors, startup founders, and ecosystem builders to explore the country's emerging startup sector.

Meanwhile, international investors and advisors will tour major industrial zones, including the Korean Export Processing Zone and the National Special Economic Zone in Chattogram. On April 8, a separate delegation will visit the Bangladesh Special Economic Zone in Narayanganj, where agreements with the World Bank and ILO are scheduled to be signed, aimed at improving the investment environment.

A live Starlink internet demonstration will take place on April 9 as part of the main summit activities.

The final day will feature focused sessions on sectors such as the digital economy, healthcare, agro-processing, and textiles.

Five entrepreneurs will receive special recognition during the event. In addition, one foreign business figure — who has lived and worked in Bangladesh for more than two decades — will be nominated for Bangladeshi citizenship. Their nationality remains undisclosed.

Prominent global business figures are set to attend, including UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh Rosie Winterton, Uber’s Senior Director Mike Orgill, and Samsung C&T Vice President Kyeongsu Lee.

The BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party are also expected to collaborate with other groups to help ensure a stable and investor-friendly environment throughout the summit.
