The price of gold in Bangladesh has hit a new record, as the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced an increase of Tk 5,342 per bhori (11.664 grams) for 22-carat gold.
The new rate is set at Tk 177,888 per bhori, effective from Wednesday (April 23).
BAJUS said the decision to raise the price was made in response to the rise in the local market price of refined gold.
The new rate was approved during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held on Tuesday (April 22).
The updated pricing was confirmed in a statement signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
