Gold prices in the local market have dropped again, with the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (Bajus) reducing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,624 per bhori.
With the latest cut, the price now stands at Tk170,236 per bhori, effective from Sunday, Bajus said in a statement last night.
In the last week alone, 22-carat gold prices have dropped by Tk4,292 per bhori in two phases.
Bajus said the price adjustment was made due to a fall in the cost of pure gold in the local market.
The new rates set 21-carat gold at Tk162,503 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk139,291, and traditional gold at Tk115,170 per bhori.
Buyers must also pay 5% VAT and a minimum 6% making charge.
