In the first 12 days of July last year, the country had received USD 948 million in remittance. This means remittance inflows rose by USD 123 million year-on-year for the period under review.
According to BB state-owned banks facilitated USD 251.81 million in remittance in these 12 days, while the specialised Bangladesh Krishi Bank channelled USD 144.86 million. Private commercial banks accounted for USD 671.61 million, and foreign banks operating in Bangladesh processed USD 2.23 million.
Earlier, in June this year, remittance stood at USD 2.818 billion, compared to USD 2.539 billion in June last year, reflecting an 11 percent year-on-year rise.
During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Bangladesh received a record-high USD 30.32 billion in remittance, surpassing the USD 23.91 billion received in the previous fiscal year.
Officials and analysts said the sustained growth in remittance is helping to support foreign currency reserves and meet the country’s external payment obligations. Bangladesh Bank has been encouraging remittance through official channels by offering incentives to expatriate workers.
