7% inflation in next budget

DHAKA: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said seven percent inflation will be projected in the budget for the upcoming 2014-15 fiscal year.

He said, inflation rate was predicted 7.5 percent in current fiscal year. The trend is now down warding.

We want to project 7 percent inflation in the upcoming year, he added and expected that the inflation rate will be reduced in 2015-16 fiscal year.

The Finance Minister told media at a pre-budget discussion at secretariat on Sunday.

He added that the GDP growth has yet to be finalized. The total budget is also not finalized.

He hinted that the budget will be of Tk 2,50,000crore. The revised budget of current fiscal year will be Tk 2,11000 crore.

The minister hoped that infrastructural development will get importance in the upcoming budget, then energy and electricity. Man power development will also get priority, he added.
