Funds won’t increase on Padma Bridge: Muhith

DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Tuesday categorically said the budgetary allocation for the much-talked-about Padma Bridge would not increase in current fiscal year.

The finance minister came up with the assertion while addressing a conference of planning commission at the National Economic Council (NEC) in city in the afternoon.

Muhith said, “Some Tk 2,100 crore was given allocation for the Padma Bridge in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) of the current fiscal year.”

The allocation won’t increase or decrease in the fiscal year, he added.

Following Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP), the minister further said many media writings show that the revised ADP would be Tk 63,000 crore.

As the National Economic Council (NEC) took decision, the RADP will remain Tk 60,000 crore.

Member of Planning Commission, also Senior Secretary Hedayetullah Al Mamun was present, among others, at the conference.
