SAVAR: A devastating fire gutted factory of Otobi furniture in Savar, outskirt of the capital on Tuesday night.

Originating from a short circuit at layer section of the factory around 8:45pm, the fire engulfed the whole factory instantly.

Later, 15 units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after five hours frantic efforts at 2:00am Wednesday.

Dhaka District Fire Service Deputy Director Mamun Mahmud confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On the other hand, Otobi Chief of Executives Faruk Ibne Raihan told banglanews that the factory was declared shut till Sunday for the fire incident.

Factory GM Zakir Hossain claimed that the fire damaged assets worth over Tk 1.5 crores.
