DHAKA: A garment hub will be set up on more than 500 acres of land at Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district.

A committee headed-by a director-general of Prime Minister’s Office has already started working to implement the plan.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant (media) Mahbubul Alam Shakil in a press conference disclosed the matter at Gonobhaban in city on Wednesday noon.

He also said that the government took necessary steps so that any incident like Rana Plaza farther would not take place and various committees have been formed to ensure the workers welfare and standard work environment.

Shakil said the Gazaria garment hub will be made for the development of readymade garment where building safety and fire security will be given more importance.
