Barapukuria officials confined for 2nd day

PARBATIPUR, DINAJPUR: Agitating miners and workers of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) kept the company officials confined for the second successive day on Wednesday.

The agitators began demonstration at 12:00on Tuesday demanding cancellation of the new manpower structure and implement the old one.

All activities at the mine came to a halt as about 60 officers remained confined to respective offices for 23-hour.

Meanwhile, large number of police forces has been deployed considering the security to the mine.

The coal mine Managing Director Aminzaman told banglanews, “Situation is horrible now, if it continues the underground machineries may go under water that might cause a terrible accident.”

Discussion may be held on the workers’ demands, but the ways the workers have chosen may fall the mine under a threat”, he added.
