DHAKA: National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Golam Hossain on Wednesday categorically said the income tax would be the main sector as revenue income in the budget of upcoming fiscal year 2014-15.

The NBR chief came up with the observation while talking to the journalists after inauguration of the first e-TIN (tax identification number) service center at Bangladesh Civil Service Tax Academy in Eskaton area of the city.

He said, “Tax will cover some 38 percent of the total budget, value added tax (VAT) 35 percent and duty fees to cover 27 percent.”

The NBR chief also said, “Many sectors are being created, from where taxes can be collected and tax on domestic industry raw materials are being considered.”
