BD to import power from Bhutan

DHAKA: State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam on Wednesday said Bangladesh is keenly interested to import electricity from Bhutan.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker expressed his interest when Bhutanese Ambassador to Dhaka Aum Pema Choden paid a courtesy call to him at the ministry in the city on Wednesday.

During the parley, Shahriar expressed the interest to import of electricity as Bhutan has numerous possibility of hydroelectric power generation, mentioning the increasing demand of electricity in the country.

Being requested by the ambassador, the state minister assured Aum about taking necessary steps for exporting surplus internet bandwidth to Bhutan.

Aum expressed satisfaction over bilateral and trade relations between two the countries and praised the infrastructural development of Bangladesh.
