DHAKA: Investors witnessed sharp fall in the benchmark indices of the country’s bourses on Monday.

The Dhaka Stocks Exchange broad index shed over 38 points to stand at 4,364 at the close on the second trading day of the week.

Trade deals stood at 61,701 with transaction at Tk 2,170 million.

Of the issues traded, 84 advanced, 178 declined and 31 remained unchanged.

GP topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 198million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were HWAWELLTEX, LAFSURCEML, SQURPHARMA , MATINSPINN, HEIDELBCEM, AFCAGRO, EHL, PADMAOIL and EMERALDOIL.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8,412 by dropping over 57 points.

Out of the issues traded, 50 gained, 136 declined and 23 remained unchanged.
