SAVAR, DHAKA: The workers of Helicon Sweater factory started work abstention at Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Savar, on outskirt of the capital, on Saturday.

Sources said that the workers of the factory entered into the factory on time and then started sit-in programme to meet their demands. 

The workers complained that ownership of the factory has changed recently. And new owner reduced the basic salary and piece rate.

On the other hand, additional police forces have been deployed in the factory to avoid any untoward situations since morning. 

Ashulia Industrial Police Director Mostafijur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
