3 new anti-cancer drugs to hit market soon

GAZIPUR: Techno Drugs Limited (TDL), a local drug-manufacturing company, will market three more new anti-cancer drugs for the medication of cancer patients at a cheaper cost.

The medicines-- named Docetax, Amtrex and Vincrest-- will be used for the cure of cancer in breasts, lungs, head, throat and blood.

Istiaq Ahmed, technical adviser of the company, gave the good news at a pre-marketing programme here Friday.

“Considering the unavailability of the rare drugs and plights of poor patients in the country, we are going to bring those drugs in the market,” he said.

Techno Drugs has so far been marketing 14 drugs.

Shahjalal Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of TDL, said cancer treatment in the country is still beyond the reach of the poor because of high prices of drugs. “The new drugs will be cheaper at cost,” he said.

For causes like food faking and use of toxic preservatives in food items as well as hygienic problems, the incidence of cancer of the sorts cited above appears to be on the rise. And those who can afford have to go abroad for treatment in different countries spending huge money.
