HC asks Nandan superstore chain to quit Gulshan

DHAKA: The High Court asked Nandan Food and Beverage Industries Ltd owners to pack up its outlet from capital’s posh Gulshan area by August 25.

An HC bench comprising Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Syeda Afsar Jahan passed the eviction order Wednesday following RAJUK’s legal move.

The government’s development agency for the capital, RAJUK, had issued a notice in December asking the authorities of the superstore chain to remove the Nandan Mega Shop as they had “no commercial permission” to do business in the high-society residential area.

The business group filed a writ petition for overturning the RAJUK order. The order was stayed, but it was later withdrawn following a petition filed by the landowner.
