DHAKA: The law enforcers detained Nasir, the scheduler of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, for his alleged involvement in gold smuggling.

The accused is now being interrogated, said a competent source from the Biman.

Police, earlier on Friday night, nabbed Nasir from his residence at Uttara in the city, sources added.

A Detective Branch (DB) of Police source said that they earlier detained five people, including the national carrier’s deputy general manager (DGM), in connection with gold smuggling.

They claimed that the Biman Bangladesh Airlines scheduler, Nasir, was also involved in gold smuggling.

The detainees told DB that Nasir used to help the smugglers by setting pilots and crew, who also favored them to smuggle gold.

However, according to the source, a few more officials might be arrested in this connection.
