ASHUGANJ, Brahmanbaria: Industries Minister Dilip Barua Friday said the government is going to establish another fertilizer factory in Ashuganj soon.
“The ministry concerned is working in establishing the factory, Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory-2,” the minister disclosed while visiting Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory in the afternoon.
He told his audience that the government is also taking an initiative to set up a petrochemical industry in Ashuganj, a hub of natural gas, under a public-private-partnership project.
“The government is planning to establish an economic zone here because of good condition of power and gas supply and communications network,” said the left politician-turned-technocrat minister.
Earlier, the minister had a meeting with factory officials at the local rest-house auditorium.
Local MP Advocate Ziaul Haq Mridha, BCIC Chairman Masud Siddique, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saiful Islam and Maganaing Director of the factory Osman Gani attended the meeting.
