DHAKA: Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said that a free trade agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be signed soon.

Moreover, direct flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will begin to the south Asian country.

The minister made this disclosure to the media after a meeting with newly appointed Sri Lanka high commissioner Yasoja Gunasekera at the secretariat in city on Tuesday.

‘Discussion is on to enhance trade with Sri Lanka. We will sign FTA soon,’ he added.

The Sri Lanka envoy said that they had also discussed on the Lankan investment.
