DHAKA: The beleaguered Chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Air Marshal (retd) Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Wednesday said he would resign if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina desired so.
He made the reaction following a letter sent to the Premier by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister GM Quader accusing him of "violating official discipline".
“I have a good relation with the Civil Aviation Minister. He sent me more than one show-cause letter and I replied.
“He sent a letter to the premier again. Actually, I don’t know why he is doing so and so angry with me,” said the Biman boss.
Replying to a question about the premier’s action, he said, “It is totally depending on the PM`s decision, but I am ready to leave the post if she desires.”
The former air-force chief disclosed that he has briefed the PM "everything about the sector" during his last week`s visit to PM office.
Earlier, at a seminar on July 18, GM Quader made frank comment about the irregularities and corruption in the sector and blamed some high officials for the irregularities .
Rebutting GM Quader’s allegation the Biman Chairman arranged a press conference and raised question about minister’s jurisdiction for making such types of derogatory comments.
The ego-clash between the chairman and the minister came into the lamelght after the press conference.
