Walton registers 45% growths in first half of 2016

DHAKA: The local electronics and electrical home appliances manufacturer ‘Walton’ posted about 45 percent growths in sales of its products during the first half (January to June) of 2016 compared to the turnover of the same period of 2015.

In addition, the overall turnover during the first half of the current year also surpassed the target of that period, says a press release issued by Walton on Thursday (August 11).

Walton Group’s Deputy Director (Marketing) M Rayhan said that sales of Walton brand fridges, LED televisions and other electronics and electrical home appliances were increased substantially this year.

“During January-June’16, the local brand posted more than 50 percent growth in the sales of its produced fridges against the sales of the corresponding period of 2015,” he said adding: “Walton also witnessed about 58 percent growth in the turnover of its televisions, including color line and LED”.

In addition, about 241 percent growths in the sales of LED televisions were achieved by Walton in the first half of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, the release added.

Walton is also experiencing a strong presence in the country’s electronics and electrical home appliances market, he said. “During January to June’ 16, sales of Walton brand home appliances were gone up by about 78 percent against the sales of the same period of the previous year.”

Witnessing huge customers’ demand for home and electrical appliances the local brand is now manufacturing wide range of home appliances, including blender, induction cooker, gas stove, rechargeable fan, ceiling fan, LED light, panel light, switch-socket, and acid lead rechargeable battery, at its own factory in Chandra of Gazipur.

The quality of these products is higher than that of imported ones and the rates are very reasonable.

The Walton officials said they from the very beginning of the current year undertook massive initiatives in its production process to marketing strategies. The initiatives were: increase of production with the help of advanced machineries and technologies, introduction of new models of products, increase of sales and service points and so on.

They said some new electronics and electrical appliances were released and new models and designs were added to the existing products, especially in the area of refrigerators and LED televisions. This year, Walton introduced intelligent inverter technology’s non-frost refrigerators, which have already gained sound response from the customers.

Along with the increase of production, prices of products were also reduced several times in the current year, they said adding, sales and service delivery points were increased. The local brand also improved the quality of its products, they noted. Thus, the overall turnover of Walton brand products was increased by 45 percent in the first half of the current year.

Group’s Executive Director and Head of Marketing Amdadul Haque Sarker said, any matured company generally set a target of bagging 25 to 30 percent increase in sales whereas Walton posted about 45 percent growth in the company’s turnover, which is very satisfactory.

Walton Group’s   Executive Director and Chief Coordinator of Marketing Eva Rezwana said achieving continuous growth in the business turnover through marketing world-class products is a special uniqueness of Walton brand. She hoped that the growth will remain in future.
